Meet Laura Schetter
Laura teaches third grade at Wildwood Environmental Academy of Maumee, OH, a charter school that emphasizes curriculum with environmental science. She holds a BS in Human and Consumer Services with a major in Early Childhood Education from Ohio University’s College of Health and Human Services in Athens, OH. She spent a year as an AmeriCorps VISTA member and assistant volunteer coordinator with the Colorado “I Have a Dream” Foundation, and another year as an AmeriCorps Volunteer Education Team member in Washington State where she mentored and tutored in all content areas.
Laura developed strong leadership skills through a National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) course in the Kumoan Himalayan Mountains in India. She has also honed her interpersonal skills through a number of jobs in the education field.
Laura enjoys many outdoor activities, especially while traveling. Such activities include camping, hiking, backpacking, biking, and snowboarding. She is always seeking adventure locally, nationally, and internationally. This past summer, she
studied neotropical ecology in Costa Rica and upon her return she led her first team of Landmark volunteers at Sharon Audubon Center in Connecticut.
