What Landmark parents have to say.
- We made the decision our kids were going to "give back" this summer and Landmark had such a diverse offering, we were thrilled with the options. We learned about Landmark through a friend whose daughter had a very good experience building trails in the northwest. One of our 17 year old sons participated in the Grand Tetons, WY and Blue Hills, ME programs, the other spent two weeks at Agassiz Village, ME. All three programs were nicely sized and organized; the team leaders were terrific mentors and friends. Absolutely the kids worked hard and thankfully a myriad basic and valuable life experiences learned, but there was a good balance of down time and extracurricular activities as well. We were particularly pleased with the application and admissions process, the office staff was always available, friendly and supportive. We can't say enough positive things about Landmark.

- We are very happy that our children could join the Landmark program. We found out about Landmark via my children's high school website. They go to James E Taylor High School in Katy Texas. They participated in the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival and the Blue Hill Heritage Trust programs in Blue Hill Maine. They learned how to work with others, aside from learning how to build trails and painting houses. They learned how to build better relationships with others. For one thing, my two children are closer to each other than before. They also gained confidence to do things without us getting involved. This was the first volunteering camp they participated in their parents' absence.

- Our two daughters, Amelia and Julia, have participated in the Landmark Volunteers program a total of five times. We found out about Landmark at the girls' guidance office where there was a brochure describing the program. We can say with complete confidence that the experiences that they had exceeded all our expectations.
The idea of doing volunteer work at a national landmark to help sustain all that is given us is wonderful. To put a group of high schools students together to work as a team, where they must coordinate the completion of their project, while at the same time getting to know and live with other young adults their age from all over the country is a great experience. The volunteers learn how to live with others while sharing the chores of cooking, cleaning and shopping. They are not coddled and are really expected to act and be adults.
Our daughters made some long lasting friendships over those few weeks and have bonded with others in a way that can only happen when one is tested and made to work with others on their team. When they arrive home from their summer experience, they are glad to see us but at the same time cannot believe that it is over. They can't wait to do it again next year!
