Real work. Real responsibility.
At Landmark, your experience will go far beyond improving just yourself: you will be improving the world around you -- your world. That will involve hard work. The work you'll be doing at Landmark will be primarily manual - from clearing trails, to painting, to building projects, and it will be work that makes a difference, both in your life and the lives of others.
Take the example of clearing a trail in a national park. Your work goes beyond making a trail passable. Your work helps rid the area of invasive species that threaten a fragile natural habitat and centuries-old ecosystem; it allows visitors from all over the world to enjoy and understand our environment; and it may inspire others, like you, to work to preserve these national treasures.
Many of our host organizations determine their specific projects shortly before the Landmark team arrives, so you should be prepared for a variety of manual labor jobs. These may include painting, building and repairing infrastructure, or grounds maintenance. They may also involve working directly with the clientele of the organization - for example, assisting with activities for disadvantaged kids at a summer camp. Whether your contribution is direct or indirect, it makes an important impact on people's lives.
